Beacon Piping Company was hired and self-performed 80% of the total 18,000-lineal feet of piping required for the buildings' systems and process piping for various medical manufacturing of products. The pivotal project scope — requiring tremendous coordination between the owners, engineers and other trades, involved a work crew of 35 tradesmen to complete and deliver - met with the owners' satisfaction and approval.
Beacon provided all labor, materials, services, supervision, scaffolding, tooling, equipment and all other incidentals necessary to fully complete the project scope of the mechanical piping. This included piping for steam, chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen and ethanol systems. Beacon installed the mechanical piping for air handlers, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water tanks and ethanol tanks. Beacon also installed the heating and air conditioning piping for all three buildings and the necessary piping to the manufacturing and testing facilities. An on-time completion was critical to Alkermes' product development in the pharmaceutical market.
"Beacon Piping was a key player in the overall speed of execution on this project. In particular, Beacon's spirit of cooperation to get the job done, contributed greatly to a harmonious jobsite atmosphere. Your superintendents, foreman, and craftsmen fit in well with all other contractors. The follow-through, including excellent test procedures and documentation was well received by Alkermes." - JP Coyle - Process Facilities, Inc., Project Manager
