Boston Medical Center - Newton Pavilion
Working with Johnson Controls/York International, the challenge was to replace aging and inefficient chilled water facilities on the East Newton area campus without interruption in service to a hospital which included a 639 bed facility, and Emergency Triage unit, and operating rooms.
The new facilities include (3) new 900 ton centrifugal chillers and (3) new cooling towers and associated pumping and controls. The scope included over 1000 lf of large bone CHW distribution piping to serve nearby buildings known as Preston, Doctors Office, and Newton Pavilion. The new facilities allowed BMC to take inefficient satellite plants out of service, realizing enormous energy savings.
