Harvard University Chiller #6 - Enabling Phase
Cambridge, Massachusetts

Harvard University selected Beacon Piping to prepare for the future installation of another 4,000 ton chiller. It was necessary for the mains to be frozen while the plant was in operation in order to allow the installation of new welded isolation valves. The scope of work also included a 20" wet-tap into the chilled water system while the system was running.

The plant serves critical users and could not be shut down. Beacon Piping performed work without interrupting services to the campus. It was crucial for the system to be reliable at all times to supply the campus.

Emergency contingencies were required to assure nothing unexpected interfered with production once the system was cut. This project was extremely time sensitive, therefore a quick turn around was crucial. Beacon provided a dedicated, motivated and talented crew to assure success.

Beacon Piping was selected because of their long term relationship with the client, their familiarity with Harvard's procedures, and their reliability to perform uninterrupted service throughout the duration of the project.
