Polaroid Corporation
Process Piping, Chemical Piping and Equipment
Waltham, Massachusetts
The Polaroid Corporation was a well-known Massachusetts-based business for many years and was a loyal client of Beacon Piping Company. Two projects were initiated by Polaroid, relocating the Film/Dye Manufacturing Processes and constructing the Chemical Strategy - Research /Development Facility. Polaroid designed a piping system to produce their chemical processes essential for their company. Beacon's project scope involved the installation of many different systems and specification types, including stainless steel, teflon-lined, and fiberglass piping. Tanks, pumps, reactors and other pieces of equipment were all part of the critical solvent handling systems. Meeting installation milestones by minimizing scheduled plant outages to maintain production cycles was crucial for Polaroid. Priorities of the client governed Beacon's schedule efforts and at times building areas were off limits. Beacon Piping performed critical, high quality work in dangerous (solvent) work environments with demanding time-lines. Safety was highly stressed during this project; as many of the fluids in and around the work site were hazardous.
In an earlier project, Polaroid Corporation consolidated the operations of several areas and modified an additional facility to make internal processes more efficient. Beacon Piping was contracted to relocate the Film/Dye Manufacturing and Processing Equipment Facility. The scope of this consolidation and relocation project required complicated schedules including the shut down, relocation and installation of equipment.
Through both projects, Beacon Piping Company continually met schedules, stayed flexible as to the client's production needs, worked safely, provided smooth project management and quality craftsmanship.
