Procter & Gamble/The Gillette Company
Circulating Water and Intake Structure
- Displaced by Central Artery Tunnel
South Boston, Massachusetts

Procter & Gamble/The Gillette Company's World Shaving Headquarters in South Boston manufactures the company's shaving products. When their main production facility located adjacent to the Fort Point Channel was impacted by the Central Artery Project, they were confident in using Beacon Piping to relocate their seawater intake facility.

Revisions to their water circulating system included a 5000 sq.ft. brick and cast stone pumping station on instrumentation control and security systems, linking the remote pump station equipment to the Gillette's main manufacturing complex ('World Shaving Headquarters') 3600 feet each of 24", 36" and 42" diameter fiberglass and ductile iron buried piping; 3600 feet of electrical duct bank; three mechanical vaults.

Beacon Piping installed over 1000 feet each of 24", 36" and 42" buried piping between December 1995 and June 1996 in order to meet a critical milestone date to interface with the Central Artery Project. The three phase project stretched over several years coinciding with the construction of the tunnel project that passed through Procter & Gamble/The Gillette Company's property. We enjoy a long-term relationship with the Gillette Company and are proud we were able to reward their confidence in us by meeting the demands of this project.
